9 June 2008 - Clement Njoroge
Renewed fighting between Ethiopian-backed government troops and Islamist militants Sunday killed at least ten civilians in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. The most intense clashes between the two sides occurred at the city's main Bakara market, which is widely regarded an Islamist stronghold. The interim Somali transitional government is currently seeking to maintain control of Mogadishu with key support from the Ethiopian troops. [P.E]
