Uganda, DRC and Sudan Resolve to Obliterate LRA
The governments of Uganda, DR Congo and Sudan have resolved to stage a joint military offensive against the Uganda’s rebel Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). Sources say military chiefs from the three countries finalized the deal Tuesday in the Ugandan capital, Kampala. Ugandan army spokesman Paddy Ankunda said a military solution became inevitable after LRA leader Joseph Kony snubbed a peace deal that would have ended the 21 year insurgency. The rebel group’s lead negotiator, James Obita, has meanwhile called for more time to allow Kony to explain why he had rejected the peace deal.
