Zimbabwe’s President Robert Mugabe Tuesday said Western countries were responsible for his country’s food crisis and economic turmoil. Mugabe told world leaders attending a UN summit on the global food crisis in Rome that the UK had schemed with her allies in Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand to impose “illegal” economic sanctions against Zimbabwe. Mugabe also described his controversial seizure and redistribution of white owned farms as a people-centred land reform programme. [P.E]
