The Ethiopian government’s disaster management agency has announced that an estimated 4.5 Ethiopians are in dire need of emergency food aid. Agency head Simon Mechale on Tuesday told journalists that the number of people facing starvation - mostly from the southern and central regions - had risen from 2.2 million to 4.5 million due owing to drought and lofty food price hikes.
