Ex-Mediator Calls for UN-fronted Ceasefire in Somalia

A former mediator in the Somali crisis has urged the United Nations to urgently deploy a peacekeeping force in the war torn country, saying a ceasefire was indispensable for the restoration of peace. Former Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) mediator Bethuel Kiplagat said such a truce would ensure meaningful progress at the ongoing Somali peace talks in Djibouti. [P.E]
