Barely two days after the Burundian government and the PalipeHutu-FNL rebels agreed to a joint cessation of hostilities, two rebel fighters were killed Wednesday in Gihanga, a town near Bujumbura. Army spokesman Colonel Adolphe Manirakiza said the troops had shot at the rebels after they defied an order to stop advancing towards their patrol position. FNL spokesman Pasteur Habimana downplayed the incident, saying it was unlikely to derail the country’s ongoing peace process.[P.E]
