The Burundian government and the PalipeHutu-FNL rebel group have agreed to a joint cessation of hostilities. The two sides released a joint statement affirming the ceasefire Monday, bringing the tiny easy African nation close to finally implementing a delayed 2006 peace deal that had stalled because the FNL rebels had declined to uphold it.
