South African President Thabo Mbeki Sunday condemned the recent wave of violent attacks against immigrants from other African countries, terming them a “disgrace” and urging South Africans to denounce the violence. As Mbeki affirmed his government’s commitment to ending the violence, thousands of people marched through the streets of Johannesburg in protest against the violence that has so far killed at least 50 foreigners and displaced tens of thousands.
