The Chinese government has denied having dispatched a controversial arms shipment to Zimbabwe, despite claims by Harare that the arms had been delivered. China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang insistence that the ship was on its way back to China cast doubts on the credibility of the claim by Zimbabwe’s Deputy Information Minister Bright Matonga that the weapons had been received. South African port workers refused to offload the shipment in April, fearing that the arms could deepen Zimbabwe's post election crisis. [P.E]
