23 May 2008 - News From Africa
UNHCR has began a voluntary repatriation of an estimated 200 Ugandan refugees living in Zambia. The operation is already underway, with 39 returnees being airlifted to Uganda on May 21. Some of the refugees have spent over twenty years in Zambia, having fled Uganda during the 1985 ouster of Ugandan President Milton Obote. UNHCR expects to complete the repatriations, which will cost US$210,000, by the end of this year.[P.E]
