20 May 2008 - Clement Njoroge
Zimbabwe’s Opposition Movement for Democratic Change alleged Monday that their presidential candidate Morgan Tsvangirai cancelled his return to the country after learning of a military intelligence plan to assassinate him. MDC Secretary General Tendai Biti alleged that 18 snipers had been contracted to kill Tsvangirai, a charge Deputy Information Minister Bright Matonga dismissed as a fabrication by the opposition to gain more international media attention.
