Kenyan Premier Supports Amnesty over Post-Poll Violence

Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga has called for the release of youths detained over the post-election skirmishes that rocked Kenya in January and February. Odinga spoke Sunday at a rally in the volatile Rift Valley Province, which saw some of the worst ethnic fighting during the political crisis and accounts for the largest chunk of the country’s internal refugees. The statement puts the Prime Minister on a coalition course with Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and Justice Minister Martha Karua, who have been vocal in rejecting the amnesty calls.
