Kenya’s coalition government Thursday unanimously opposed a plan by parliamentary backbenchers to coalesce into a formal grand opposition group. Sources say Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka led their cabinet colleagues in rejecting the plan, saying it negated the spirit of the unity administration. The coalition government was formed to end a violent post election stalemate that saw over 1500 Kenyans die and another 350,000 displaced.
