Burundi's state-run Coffee Board announced Thursday that it would increase prices paid to coffee farmers by 44 per cent in an effort to raise their incomes in the face of rising inflation and escalating food prices. Coffee is Burundi’s top revenue earner, and the tiny East African nation has an estimated 800,000 farmers growing the cash crop.
