Tsvangirai Agrees to Face Mugabe in Run-Off Vote
Zimbabwean Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has announced his decision to participate in the country’s impending presidential runoff vote. Tsvangirai says although he believes he won the first round outright, he will seek to end President Robert Mugabe’s 28 year rule. Meanwhile, Justice Minister Patrick Chinamasa has roundly rejected Tsvangirai’s run-off pre-conditions, which include the reconstitution of the discredited Zimbabwe Electoral Commission, as well as the presence of international observers, the foreign press and a regional peacekeeping mission.
