UN is 50 years old in Kenya
NAIROBI--The united Nations yesterday launched a book to mark fifty years in Kenya. 'The United Nations and Kenya: Fifty years of partnership was launched at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) by the UN system in Kenya Resident Co-ordinator Paul Andre De La Porte.
The publication is an overview of the broad history of UN presence in Kenya, celebrating the UN partnership in Kenya by retracing important events over the past five decades. Also present at the occasion were Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary David Nalo and the new UNEP boss Achim Steiner.
During the occasion, Sir Richard Jolly, a honorary professor and Research Associate of the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex and co-director of the UN Intellectual history project, delivered a lecture on 'The power of UN ideas', giving an overview of UN contributions over the last 60 years.
