PM confirms decision to pull troops
ADDIS ABABA- - Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi told parliament on Tuesday that his government would redeploy troops away from the tense border with Eritrea in compliance with a United Nations (UN) Security Council request."In respect to the request by the UN Security Council and to ease tension along the border with Eritrea, Ethiopia has decided to redeploy troops to their original positions away from the border," Meles said in a report to parliament.The Horn of Africa neighbours fought a border war in 1998-2000 in which 70 000 people were killed in World War One-style trench warfare.
