Students in Zuma shirts snub Mlambo-Ngcuka
JOHANNESBURG--Twenty delegates from KwaZulu-Natal walked out as Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka was about to address the South African Students Congress.
Shortly after the deputy president had taken to the podium at Sasco's fifth national congress in Johannesburg on Sunday, KwaZulu-Natal delegate Thami Shezi raised his hand. He said he and his comrades had to leave as they had problems with transport.
Some of the delegates wore T-shirts emblazoned with former deputy president Jacob Zuma's picture, accompanied by the words "Human rights for all".
They knew in advance Mlambo-Ngcuka was going to address the congress and had waited all morning until it was her turn to speak.
