Illicit brew leaves 45 dead

Nairobi--At least 45 people have died and 8 others blinded after consuming an illicit brew in the eastern district of Machakos.Sixt-four others are admitted in critical condition at the Machakos district hospital. The killer brew is suspected to have been laced with methanol to make it more 'potent'. Health minister Charity Ngilu has described the incident as a 'national tragedy'. This is the fourth time in as many years that Kenyans have lost their lives and many others rendered blind following the consumption of illicit brews.
