Mine donates money to HIV/AIDS orphans
Impala Platinum Mine in Rustenburg of the North West Province of South Africa has donated R465, 000(69,958 USD) to HIV/AIDS orphans through the Department of Social Development in order to improve the quality of their lives. The money will be used to assist applicants awaiting the approval of their Foster Care Grant for the orphaned children. It is reported that in Rustenburg only, many children were left vulnerable and orphaned due to HIV/AIDS. There are estimated 5 000 of cases in the Bojanala district and 901 of foster care in Rustenburg. The North West Department of Social Development anticipates an increase due to the mortality rate in the area. Impala Mine has also donated thousands of rand to children homes in the North West Province of South Africa who did not have access to proper nutrition, clothing school books and school uniform.
