Fight for education for all girls

On 29 and 30 April the Associations and NGO’s in Morondava, Madagascar launched a campaign called "Retention and access of fundamental education". The organizers took this opportunity to ask the politicians to facilitate and promote access of education to children. It is reported that in Madagascar 75% of the population is illiterate as a result of poor parents. Some parents still prevent their children to attend school and force them to help in daily activities. In certain rural areas customs do not allow girls to have education. Rather they are subjected to early marriages. At the end of the campaign, participants made a call to protect women from violence, and the creation of Technical and Professional Training for marginalized women, and creation of schools in the remote areas.
