First Lady storms Nation House

Nairobi, Tuesday—Kenya’s First Lady Lucy Kibaki yesterday night stormed the offices of Nation Media group and held reporters and editors hostage until 4.30am today. Fuming with rage, she slapped Kenya Television Network [KTN] cameraman Clifford Derrick, who was recording her. Mrs Kibaki was protesting over media reports linking her to the disruption of a party at outgoing World Bank Country Director Makhtar Diop’s home. On Sunday night, the First Lady, accompanied by her bodyguards, stormed Diop’s compound, ordering musicians who were on stage to stop performing. She exchanged bitter words with Diop before she left.
