Peace Building and Reconciliation

Introduction
The course is offered in partnership with Amani People’s Theatre and Hekima Peace Forum-Hekima College. It is an institutional response to the cycles of violence and conflict that are so rampant especially among grassroots societies in the Great Lakes Region and Greater Horn of Africa.

The course which especially targets grassroots peace workers, NGO and CBO workers runs every Saturday for four months in a year. The 1st Intake between February and May and the 2nd Intake between August and November.

Overall goal: To create a culture of peace among grassroots communities in Kenya, the Great Lakes region, and the Greater Horn of Africa through imparting of skills and knowledge on peace in its multi faceted-ness to the peoples of these regions.

Specific goals
1. To holistically respond to the socio-economic, political, religious and cultural conditions in grassroots communities that are increasingly breeding conflict
2. To enhance grassroots capacities fro peace building through training of gate keepers, community peace workers and other interest groups
3. To equip the marginalized members of our community with relevant skills and knowledge to help them claim their rightful place in the society
4. To enhance local and regional organizations&_#8217; capacities for peace building and development especially among those dealing directly with the grassroots communities
